First-year students at Ryerson have a perfect opportunity for this scholarship because Ryerson is pleased to recognize the academic achievements of the first-year class upon admission to the university, with over $4 million designated for entrance scholarship support.

If you are an international student (on a study visa) attending and completing studies at a Canadian secondary school, you graduate with a final average of 80% or higher.

President’s Entrance Scholarships

Secondary school students who demonstrate good academic accomplishment, leadership qualities, original thought, and creative ability and are eligible for The President’s Entrance Scholarship are awarded this scholarship.

The President’s Entrance Scholarship is awarded to Twelve (12) recipients. Each eligible student receives $40,000 (total value), which is given in batches of $10,000 (annual amount); this award is renewable.

Eligibility

You will require a minimum 90% final admission average for consideration for this award. An applicant’s average is calculated with their best six Grade 12 U/M courses or their home country’s equivalent.

Requirements for the President’s Entrance Scholarship

In the application, you will be asked to include the following:

  1. An essay or project summary: this may be a piece of creative writing or a summary of any creative project you may have undertaken. It must reflect your capacity for original thought and creative ability (max 750 words).
  2. Two (2) letters of reference:
    1. Academic reference letter that confirms your scholastic abilities. This reference may also speak to your leadership/creative endeavors.
    2. A reference letter should address your leadership/creative endeavors. It should not verify academic achievement.
  3. Your leadership activities: you will indicate the leadership activities/positions you have been involved in during your final two years in secondary school.

Note: Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents of Canada, Protected Persons in Canada, and International Students are all eligible to apply for this scholarship.

International Secondary School Merit Scholarship

Suppose you are an international student and you are entering your first year of full-time to undergo a four-year undergraduate degree program at Ryerson University, and you demonstrate academic excellence, commitment to volunteer work and extracurricular activities, and leadership skills. In that case, the International Secondary School Merit Scholarship is for you.

The International Secondary School Merit Scholarship is awarded to (7) students who receive $5,000 each at the entrance, which is non-renewable.

Eligibility

It would help if you got a minimum 85%/A or equivalent final admission average for consideration for this scholarship.

Note: If you are an international student, you are eligible to apply for this award. Applicants who have a gap between their secondary school and post-secondary studies are eligible for this award only if their gap is not one academic year.

Salad King International Student Awards/Scholarship

Mr. Ernest and Mrs. Linda Liu created the Salad King International Student Awards owners of the popular Salad King restaurant.

If you are an international student and have demonstrated strong leadership to improve the quality of student experience at Ryerson University, then you can qualify for this award. An on-campus student leader impacts as a positive role model and a great mentor for students.

The recipient of this award made a unique contribution to the academic or support department of Ryerson University.

This scholarship has a value of $1000. The scholarship is for international students who have achieved an excellent academic record.

It is given once a year and is available for international students only. The Salad king international students scholarship has many categories, which include

Scotiabank International Student Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2001 with support from the Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank) to enhance and contribute to Ryerson’s cultural and ethnic diversity and the more significant Toronto communities.

Through the facilitation of the Scotiabank International Student Scholarship in International Student Support (ISS), Ryerson University wants to demonstrate support to international students and encourage success in their academic life.

Based on the agreement with Scotiabank, this scholarship is for upper-year full-time undergraduate international students with substantial academic achievement. Unfortunately, first-year international students are not considered eligible for this scholarship.

This award is for international students, and it is awarded 12 times a year with prize money of between $1,500 – $1,800
