It was really a black Wednesday as innocent children that left home for school to learn, lost their lives while others sustained various degrees of injury.

Though the main cause of the building collapse is yet to verified, we thank God for sparing the lives of the survivors that made it through.

Mr. Moruf Adulakeem, who is one of the victims, narrated his ordeal on how he survived 3 hours under the collapsed school building.

LAGOS COLLAPSED BUILDING

I left the school building about 9:30 a.m to buy food and bag of sachet water, on my way back I was climbing the staircase on getting to the therd floor, I don’t know how it happened but it seemed the earth had a shift and it was the collapse of the school building . I was only praying to God to accept my soul and forgive me my sins, because I thought that was the end.

He said.

Mr. Moruf said it took him some minutes to understand where he was, it was only when he saw a ray of light under the rubble that he knew the school building had collapsed.

The first thing that came to his mind was the pupils, what may have happen to them. He knew there was no way they could have escaped the danger.

An hour later, I heard the voice of the proprietress and the pupils shouting Jesus! Jesus!. I also heard the voice of Baba Ridwan shouting for help, I told him to pray instead of shouting.

A certain man that I can’t recognize came to me and touched my back and said I should hold on that the rescue teams are coming to save me.

According to Moruf, he is grateful to God for saving his life and that he only regret losing the school proprietress, one teacher and five (5) of basic six pupils.

Indeed it was a tragedy and we urge the government to swing into action to fish out the contractors, investigating the type of materials used in the construction of the building to avoid future occurrence.
